5 Projects using Cricut SportFlex Iron-on Vinyl

Working with iron-on vinyl has always been one of my favorite materials to work with when I get my cutting machine. The possibilities are endless but now they really have opened up because I have the ability to put iron-on vinyl on stretch materials. Cricut SportFlex iron-on vinyl has become one of my favorite iron-on vinyl types. I’ve been making all the things with it. As a matter of fact, I’m sharing 5 projects using Cricut SportFlex iron-on vinyl.

Cricut SportFlex has a lot more stretch than regular everyday iron-on vinyl. The material is thinner giving you the flexibility you need for certain materials – think bathing suits, activewear, headbands, and even socks! SportFlex comes in a  variety of colors, perfect for any of your projects.

How to Use Cricut SportFlex Iron-On Vinyl

Open Cricut Design Space and search for the design you will be using for your project. Click “Insert Image” on the bottom right of your screen.

Resize and adjust the image to your needs. When you have it just the way you want to click “Make it”. Arrange the SportFlex material on your mat. Remember to “Mirror” your image. Select the material – in this case, we’ll be using Cricut SportFlex Iron-On Vinyl. Load the Cricut Standard Grip Mat then press the Cricut button when ready.

Unload the mat then use your weeding tools to weed your design. Arrange your design on your project then use your Cricut EasyPress to iron it on to your material.

Heat the Cricut EasyPress to about 305 Degrees (always pre-heat the material for about 5-10 seconds) and press for about 30 seconds. Press the back of the garment for about 10 seconds. Peel the clear sheet when it is warm.

Cricut SportFlex on Bathing Suits

Bathing suit season is almost here! Just imagine all the things you can do to your bathing suit and/or your kids! My daughter has this adorable mermaid scale bathing suit but it was plain so I jazzed it up with a mermaid text found at the Cricut Design Store! The Cricut SportFlex Iron-on went on beautifully – doesn’t it just look like it came that way? My daughter loved the way it came out. I’m thinking of all sorts of ways to take my bathing suit to the next level.

Both of my kids play sports so many of the projects I’m sharing are Soccer or Baseball related.

Soccer Headband

I bought a bunch of headbands in a few different colors on clearance some time ago but they were just plain – not fun right? I changed that real quick! My daughter wanted a headband to wear to her Soccer practices so I found a heart-shaped soccer ball then added the text.

Personalized Soccer Socks

My kids love wearing funky socks to their sports practices so I personalized my daughter’s socks with her team number and a soccer ball. The Cricut SportFlex vinyl was perfect for the socks because they stretch nicely without distorting the image. You can definitely personalize them with a baseball, basketball, or even cheerleading! The 6″ x 7″ Cricut EasyPress was perfect for this since the socks aren’t big.

Soccer Activewear Shorts

I picked up some plain shorts for my daughter to wear during her practice but I added a cute vinyl saying to the corner using a design from Cricut Design Studio. I layered the white and black SportFlex iron-on vinyl. It worked out perfectly! It layered so smoothly.

I love supporting my son when he is on the field so I am always sporting a Baseball mom tee. I love that the Cricut SportFlex gives me extra stretch where I need it.

Cricut SportFlex is definitely my “go-to” vinyl from now on because it really gives me the stretch I need.
