I’m a working mom so my morning consist of getting myself ready, preparing a nutritious breakfast for my family, making sure the kids are all dressed, then taking them to school. After the kids are dropped off – I head to work. As you can see, it is BUSY!

Have a Goodnight’s Sleep
Getting a full 8 hours of sleep is key to starting the morning right. When I sleep good, I wake up good. Our body needs the rest. It needs the time to recuperate. We tend to do so much that we forget that just doing nothing is important for our mind and body. I’m a night owl – it was a big adjustment for me. I started noticing the difference in my mood right away when I changed my sleeping habits. I woke up refreshed – no more snoozing!
Wake Up Earlier
Waking up before the rest of the family gets up helps me start my day without the need to rush. I am able to do the things I need to do before worrying about my kids finding matching socks. Write a “To-Do” List
Keeping track of what I need to do that day helps me plan my day better. I also keep a daily “to-do” list to keep track of what I need to accomplish. Both of my kids play sports which makes for busy weeknights. I like to plan what we’ll have for dinner if any reports or projects need to get turned in, or any deadlines that need to be planned. It keeps me from going crazy trying to figure out what I need to do.
Exercise or Meditate
I’m not a fan of exercise but when I started doing a quick 15-20 min exercise in the morning – it made such a difference in my mood. I’m not kidding! I aim for 3 times a week or more. Even if you only have 10 mins to spare – get some meditation or exercise in. Your body and mind will thank you! Sometimes I’ll do it right when I get out of bed. I’ll do some good stretches to get my blood flowing with some light movements.
