Does anyone else’s school age kid give one word answers when you ask how their day was? My son sure does! I keep prompting him for more information but it is usually the same. We like to eat dinner as a family as much as we can during the weekdays. We’re always busy with activities and work but dinner is always a time where we gather together. I decided I needed to come up with a fun way to make him talk more about his day – Family Conversation Cards! We picked up the Family Pizza Combo at Sam’s Club when we were running behind one day this week which was the perfect time to use the conversation cards.
The Family Pizza Combo at Sam’s Club comes with everything you need for a delicious fulfilling dinner at an affordable price. For just $13.98, you’ll get – hot (16in) pizza, cheesy breadsticks, cookies and a 2-liter of Coke. Seriously, I could not believe what a great deal it was! My family of 4 had plenty to fill our bellies and still had leftovers! My husband and I both work, sometimes we don’t have the energy to worry about, “what’s for dinner”. Our kids have extracurricular activities during the weekdays so there are time when we get home late. I like that I can grab a Family Pizza combo on my way home with no worries!
Let’s make Family Pizza night fun with some fun Conversation cards. Note: There are many places to create these conversation cards but I chose PowerPoint because it is easy to save it as a PDF file.
Tools needed:
- Hole puncher
- Scissors
- Key ring
- Cardstock
Tutorial:
1. Open up PowerPoint. Start with a blank slide.
2. Add 6 rectangular boxes on the blank slide (copy and paste).
3. (optional) Add backgrounds to your slides or change it to a different color. Add another smaller white rectangular box on top of your patterned design. You can duplicate your slide by right clicking and selecting “duplicate slide”
4. Add a text box and start typing your family conversation questions on each of the boxes.
5. Once your questions are typed on all your boxes, print on 8.5 x 11 card stock. Card stock is more sturdy. Be sure to save your work!
6. Once they are all printed, cut each of the boxes.
7. Carefully align the cards, with the hole puncher punch through each card on the top left corner.
8. Put all your cards on your key ring and you’re done!
