Halloween doesn’t have to be just for the kids, why not make it a romantic date night right in your home? I am the first to admit that my marriage is totally different now than when we first got together. After having two kids, our relationship has gotten quite comfortable and routine. We don’t go on date nights as often as we’d like with our busy schedules and our kids extra-curricular activities. I wanted to create a spooky romantic dinner at home for Halloween to surprise my husband.
Want to create your own spooky romantic date night at home? I kept the table settings simple but classy. My husband went out fishing which gave me the opportunity to create his favorite meal – steak with rice and beans. I sent the kids to grandma’s house for the night so I can create the perfect setting. Another option is setting up once the kids are in bed. A romantic at home dinner can still be done even if you can’t find a babysitter. The goal is an intimate dinner with your loved one. A chance to be close and talk without worrying about everyday mommy-daddy roles. Enjoy a glass of wine and enjoy each other’s company.
Here are some of the props you can use:
- Black candlesticks
- Tealights
- Lace fabric (for tablecloth)
- White sheet
- Plum color chargers
- Potion jars
- Spider web placemats
- Halloween scene setters
- Spooky Halloween signs
I went with a black and plum/dark purple theme tablescape. I wanted everything to look nice when he walked in from a long day out. I know how important these date nights are for our relationship. Sometimes we forget that before kids we did so many activities and fun stuff together. I look for ways to spice up our relationship to make it fun and exciting again. What are some in-home date ideas that you’ve done?
Your table is perfect!
I love that it’s completely set up for Halloween and a romantic dinner.
Great idea!
You decorated so cute! I hope you watch a really scary movie. Then he can hold you while you afraid. Have fun.
Nicely done. It looks great!
I think my husband and I are in a bit of a dating rut. We generally rely on family for babysitting, and my parents have had some medical issues recently and my mother-in-law cannot drive at night. I hoping things improve soon, because it’s been months since we had a night out without the kids. That’s so important to our relationships! #client
