Do you remember that favorite doll from your childhood? I loved playing with all dolls – pretending to be their mommy and even cutting their hair (where I ended up cutting my own hair too, ha). Now that I have a little girl she has come to love her baby dolls. She is so sweet to them – hugging them, talking sweet nothings, and playing pretend. One of my favorite dolls was Felicity from American Girl. I didn’t always like my name because it was so different and difficult to pronounce so when Felicity came out I was overjoyed because someone else had a name similar to mine! Dolls can mean so much to little girls and I am so glad that my daughter is able to enjoy American Girl just like I did when I was a little girl.
My daughter received the Bitty Baby doll and rocking cradle. Seriously the cutest little baby ever. My daughter fell in love instantly. I have to say there is no comparison when it comes to the quality of American Girl dolls. Everything is very well made. The cradle is sturdy and perfect for all the moving around my daughter has been doing. It really can withstand a little toddler.
The Bitty baby doll comes with a cloth diaper and pink bodysuit. You can also select a sleeper from one of the three choices. The doll has a soft cuddly body but the head, arms, and legs are smooth vinyl material. The wooden cradle rocks back and forth with ease. It comes with the little mattress pad with bow ties.
What are some of the benefits of a child playing with dolls?
- Learns about nurturing
- Self development – dressing themselves, taking care of themselves
- Social skills – learning to interactive with others
I’ve seen such an improvement in the way my daughter talks, interacts with other babies/toddlers, and really have become a lot more independent. She wants to dress the doll and give the baby food. It really is wonderful for their imagination and pretend play. American Girl has so many different accessories to really help kids with pretend play – diaper bags, high chair, and so much more!
Did you have an American Girl doll growing up or does your child own one?
Disclosure: I receive a doll and cradle in exchange for this post. All opinions stated here are my own.
That Bitty Baby doll reminds me of one I had when I was in my formative years. I love being able to change its diapers, feed it, etc. It’s such an amazing toy. I’m glad they have a lot of these classic toys for girls even in this technologically-driven society.
This is such a sweet doll from American Girl. My girls have had American Girl dolls for years, and I am always impressed by the extremely high quality that these dolls have. I will have to check in with my youngest and see if she is interested in the Bitty Baby.
Dolls are really the most popular toys for little girls and for good reasons. I always knew that playing with dolls will teach them lessons such as nurturing their body, learning how to groom themselves, and improve social skills.
So true! My daughter loves taking care of the baby and pretending to be mommy. She is so gentle when she is playing with the doll. I definitely see a difference in her social skills.
My 5 year old LOVES American Girl dolls. She has Grace Thomas and basically brings her everywhere she goes (except Pre-K). Bitty babies are adorable. Your daughter looks so adorable playing with her bitty baby.
Thank you so much!
That is so adorable. My daughters have been begging for American Girl dolls but honestly, I’m not sure either of them are ready for one. They’re ability to take good care of expensive toys isn’t the best right now.
Totally understand. My daughter takes the doll everywhere – taking off her clothes, throwing her on the floor, and all sorts of stuff and the doll looks great. No scratches or anything. I wouldn’t get her the bigger American Girl doll just yet though – I don’t think she is ready for those dolls!
I really like that they have a baby doll that can take some play from the littlest ones. It’s nice not to have to worry about that fancy hair, etc. Those dolls can come later down the road.
That doll is so adorable, as is your little one playing with her! Felicity is such a lovely name and how great that the doll shares your name too. The little cot is so sweet too, perfect for little ones to play mummys and daddys 🙂
I had not heard about American Girl until very recently. My daughter is still a little young but I can see one in my home in the future. I love how the American Girl line you can create your very own doll that can look like you. The clothes are so beautiful.
It is so crazy that these are still around. I had one of these when I was a younger girl and I loved it! My daughter would love one of these and I totally forgot about these.
My Daughter loves her American Girl doll. I will have to look at the Bitty Baby the next time we go to the American Girl store. My kids would love one.
Those dolls are so cute. I have two boys and they own one doll and they like feeding her and changing her. It is so awesome seeing their imagination at work. It’s really the only girlie thing they have, but they love it. One is 3 and the other id 1 and my 3 year old just loves it in think because he sees me taking care of his brother.
