Random acts of kindness always makes a person feel good – the person doing the act and the one receiving it. The Kindness Rocks Project promotes random acts of kindness by painting rocks and adding inspirational quotes or messages. Ferdinand has partnered with The Kindness Rocks Project to inspire others to share kindness! I’m going to share how to create Ferdinand Inspired Kindness rocks to share around your neighborhood. Create Ferdinand Inspired Kindness Rocks
Supplies needed for Ferdinand inspired Kindness rocks:
- Smooth rock/stone
- Acrylic paint (bright colors and white) or Sharpies
- Mod Podge
- letter stickers or cut vinyl
- Paint brushes, foam brushes
Directions:
1. Start by painting the rock in green. Two or three coats should do. Let the paint dry between each coat.
2. Decide what design you want to do on top. My daughter did flowers because Ferdinand loves flowers! My daughter decided on one big flower with 4 little flowers all around. Paint your design. You may have to do multiple coats.
3. Let the paint dry completely. Once dry, brush on Mod Podge to seal the top.
4. Flip the rock over and start painting a rainbow. Repeat process as needed. If you are using letter stickers – spell out the phrase you want to show. I used my cutting machine to cut out the phrase “Do the impossi-BULL”. Place the phrase on top of the rainbow you painted. Once in place use white paint and paint over the letters/phrase. You may have to do more than one coat. Be sure to let it dry completely.
5. Next, carefully remove each letter to show the rainbow of color underneath. You should see your phrase spelled in rainbow colors! Apply a layer or two of Mod Podge. Once dry, you are all ready to spread the kindness!
The project is perfect for kids! My daughter loves doing art projects with me so this was right up her alley. We recently watched Ferdinand digitally since its release on February 27th. She fell in love with Ferdinand and his story. We cannot wait for the Ferdinand blu-ray/DVD to come out Tuesday, March 13th! Will you be watching?
