Create this easy DIY Ikea Ribba Shadow Box using your Silhouette Cameo, vinyl, and pretty scrapbook paper! I even include a free cut file for you to make your own with ease!
While cleaning out my closet, I came across two Ikea Ribba shadow box frames. I knew they would be perfect for an easy DIY project! I picked up some gold foil vinyl the other day and knew this would be the perfect project to use it with. Summer is still a few months away but it has seriously been calling me! The beach, the sand, the vacations – everything! To brighten my home, I created a Hello Summer cut file that I am sharing with you! Post contains affiliate links. It just means I make a small commission if you make a purchase through any of my links. There is no additional cost for you.
This is such an easy project that can be completed in about an hour. A great beginner project if you are just starting out with the Silhouette or Cricut.

DIY Ikea Shadow Box with Free Cut File
Supplies needed for Ikea Shadow Box:
- Ikea Ribba shadow box (5.5 x 5.5 inches)
- Pretty scrapbook paper (Love this one from Echo Park called Summer Dreams – SO pretty!)
- Removeable vinyl (Oracal 631 Save 20% with Promo code: APRILFOOLS18)
- Free Hello Summer design (you’ll gain access through my newsletter)
Instructions:
Step 1: Cut the scrapbook paper of your choosing to fit the shadow box frame (just under the 5.5 inches). Open the frame, add the scrapbook paper.
Step 2: Open Silhouette Studio, if you are using my file open it. Ungroup and separate by color. If you are using one color vinyl then you do not have to separate by color. You can just send it to cut. No need to mirror.
Step 3: Once the cutting is complete, weed the design, use transfer tape to adhere to the front of the shadow box. Remove the transfer tape so only your design stays on the shadow box.
Step 4: All done! Admire your adorable work!
I love using Oracal 631 because it is removable which means you can switch up the design for any season. I did “Dream, Create, Inspire” on another frame but if I see a quote that really inspires me I can quickly cut it with my Silhouette Cameo and add it. The scrapbook paper can also be easily changed which can make the entire frame look differently.
If you can not find the Ikea Ribba frames, a regular picture frame would work too! The vinyl will adhere to any surface. Head to your local Dollar store and pick up some cheap frames! This could be a great project to do with friends!
Have you decorated a Shadow Box before?
That is so adorable! I have a SVG file of an adorable tandum bike and I have been looking for something to do with it! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
