Eczema is one skin condition I’m very familiar with as both of my children suffer from it since they were infants. It really was a struggle for me when my first born was diagnosed with it. I didn’t know what to do, the doctor ended up giving is an oil that helped with the flare-ups but I did not want to put a steroid on my son. I did some research and found products that were known for helping those with eczema. Eucerin was one brand that has helped my son and daughter a lot from their body wash to their lotions that specifically help those with eczema. I recently accepted the Eczema relief challenge and was so happy with the results.
We know that those who suffer from eczema need a lot of moisturizer. Their skin is very, very dry and sometimes can have triggers that can lead to flare-ups.
If you look closely at the pictures above, you can see that they both had flare-ups. There were days they would scratch so hard that they would make themselves bleed. They always got them in the folds of their arms and legs. We changed everything we used to fragrance free. No artificial dyes, colors, and scents. The doctor recommended we also do allergy testing. My son had a milk, egg, and dust mite allergy while my daughter had a peanut allergy. We made sure that they didn’t eat anything with those ingredients. It was really tough with my son since milk and eggs are used in many, many food products. Once we eliminated those foods we got the eczema under control. We just had to find the best products to use for their skin.
I was excited to try the Eucerin Eczema challenge since the products were specifically for those who suffer from Eczema flare-ups. The Eucerin Eczema Relief line protects and soothes dry skin due to irritation and and itching due to eczema. They have a line for baby’s and adults.

We used the Eucerin products for 15 days and the results were noticeable! My daughter has been having really dry skin lately (probably because of the cold weather) so I wanted to try the Eczema products on her to see if it will help with keeping her skin moisturized. He skin was bumpy and rough. We used the Eucerin Skin Calming Body wash, the In-shower Moisturizer, and the Eucerin baby Eczema Relief Body Creme. I used the Flare-up treatment when she had redness in her body (but she really didn’t have any). We used the products every day for 15 days. You can see in the pictures that her skin was really dry. She also had sun spots in her arms and legs.
The after pictures show just how much more hydrated and moisturized her legs and arms look. They feel so soft now. Her sun spots and scars are less noticeable too. I noticed that she scratches less. We applied the lotion while her skin was still damp so it can lock in that moisture. We applied the lotion a few times a day if her skin looked dry. She even would apply it if she was “scratchy” (as she says). We definitely will continue to use the Eucerin products as they actually work! My daughters skin has never looked better.
Here are some tips I learned along the way:
- Wash all clothes with fragrance-free, dye-free detergent.
- Use a mild body wash like Eucerin Skin Calming body wash
- Apply lotions while skin is still damp to seal in moisture
- Apply lotion throughout the day, as needed
Some babies do outgrow eczema but some may not – it can be controlled with the proper products. My son is 7 years old now and his eczema is very mild. He also seems to get flare-ups around Spring time. We actually took him for an allergy test and found out his food allergies are gone but he had developed environmental allergies specifically to certain grass, trees, and flowers. It is a challenge for us during the Spring when everything is blooming but now that we know we’ll be treating it with Eucerin products to help minimize his discomfort. He is very good at taking care of his skin now that he’s dealt with it since he was 4 months old!
