Meatballs are delicious just on their own but imagine a gooey cheesy center. Deliciousness, right? The pasta sauce can make a big difference when eating spaghetti and meatballs. Not all pasta sauces are made the same or taste the same so it is important to find one that enhances the flavors of your meatballs. I got the opportunity to try Victoria Fine Foods Premium sauces and was blown away by the quality and authentic flavor. I can actually read and understand the ingredients on the jar!

About Victoria Fine Foods

Victoria combines a slow kettle-cooking process and uses only the finest ingredients, never adding preservatives, water, paste, or sugar to our sauces… because your family is worth it. We craft our Victoria premium pasta sauces using 100% Italian tomatoes, 100% imported olive oil and handpicked fresh onion, garlic, and herbs which are slow kettle-cooked to deliver a homemade taste.

After receiving the sauces, I knew stuffed mozzarella meatballs would be perfect with the pasta sauces. My recipe uses a few different ingredients than typical meatballs but I love using Latino spices. My mom makes a huge batch of sofrito which is a base to many Puerto Rican dishes. Sofrito has fresh garlic, onions, peppers, paprika, cilantro, oregano, and olive oil (there are many variations). It is blended all together to make a base for all of our meals – soups, beans, rice, and so much more.

Jumbo Stuffed Mozzarella Meatballs

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs (or Panko breadcrumbs)
  • 1 tsp sofrito
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Goya Adobo seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp black ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp Badia Sazon
  • 1/4 tsp parsley
  • A dash of paprika
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 package of fresh mozzarella cheese (diced into 1 inch pieces)
  • 1 jar Victoria Fine Foods Roasted Garlic pasta sauce or Marinara sauce

Directions:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients with the exception of the fresh mozzarella cheese. Mix it with your hand well. Once well blended, grab about 2-2.5 tablespoons worth of the mixture. Grab a piece of cheese (you can always add bigger pieces, totally up to you!) and cover it with the mixture. Make sure it is completely covered so the cheese doesn’t ooze out. Place them in a baking dish about 1 inch or so apart.

  • Bake for about 15-20 mins until meat is almost cooked through. Place all the meatballs in a pot with the pasta sauce. Cover and cook for another 15 mins until it is cooked through and cheese melts. Serve over pasta or do some meatball subs!

Easy recipe that can be done quickly during the week days. I think these can also make some delicious appetizers! Make them slightly smaller and serve with some marinara sauce for dipping.

  1. I don’t have a favorite recipe (yet) so I’m definitely open to trying this recipe. I always add a bit of milk (just like my meatloaf) so help keep the balls moist. It makes a great difference.

  2. I like to make the ones with cranberry sauce and jelly I add a little brown sugar and we are good to go. I haven’t made these but I need to try them because I love Mozzarella

  3. This looks insanely delicious! I love meatballs! They’re the best comfort food around and this is a great twist on the typical meatball! Yum! Thanks for sharing such a delicious recipe

  4. Wow! You just made my recipe one dish longer. I am happy to come across your recipe and so excited to try this one. I love meatballs and the kids love them too. I guess I’ll make it larger like you did. 🙂

  6. My son makes a very similar recipe but with jalapenos in the center with the cheese and hot Italian sausage for the meat – he really loves spicy! Between him and my husband, we have spaghetti at least once a week so I’ll have to try this recipe on them. Thank you for sharing! 🙂

  7. Wow, those meatballs look so delicious! Adding mozzarella to the centers makes it even more special and worth the extra work. Glad the sauces were good, I know Victoria makes good vodka sauce

  8. My stomach is rumbling I am hungry! Wish I could eat this through the computer. This sauce looks so amazing and I will see if I can find it at my store next time we go shopping. I love making pasta dishes because they are so affordable.

  9. My husband John would love these meatballs! I normally tend to just buy the frozen but I think he would like the cheesiness of this for his meatballs. They sound easy enough to make I may have to try them out.

  10. Oh, my goodness, these look amazing! I’ve never tried to make my own meatballs before but I think I will give it a shot. I would LOVE to try a meatball that has a big blob of melty cheese right in the middle – this sounds SO good right now!

  11. The only thing I like better than meat balls are giant meatballs. My fav recipe I don’t share hehe is to add so much bread (crusty old Italian bread the best) they are almost like stuffing!! I dare you to try. These look delish and I want to try it!
