Metro Diner – Coral Springs’ Newest Diner

There are times where I’m just craving some good breakfast but realize that it’s 6pm. Where am I going to get an omelet at that time? My problem has been solved now that a new diner has opened up close to my house. Metro Diner is now open in Coral Springs! It is actually their first South Florida location.

Metro Diner

Since the building’s humble beginnings in 1938 and its revival as Metro Diner in 1992, Jacksonville’s favorite place for breakfast has been serving satisfied guests for nearly 25 years. They have been featured on Food Networks Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri. Metro Diner is known for offering traditional comfort food with flair.

The diner prides itself on quality ingredients and a scratch kitchen where they make their own sauces, soups and compotes. In addition, Metro Diner hand cuts their home fries and cracks fresh eggs daily. From its Fried Chicken and Waffles topped with house-made strawberry butter and signature sweet and spicy sauce, to its Charleston Shrimp & Grits, the large portion sizes enable every guest to enjoy a delicious meal at a great value, with most dishes priced under $15.

The moment you walk in, you are greeted by the staff and taken to you desired sitting area (outside or inside). It feels very homey! Everyone was incredibly friendly – engaging in conversation and suggestions. They told us about the specials of the day which are written on a huge chalkboard. You can see the soups, entrees, and desserts on the board. The menu has breakfast, lunch, and dinner which are available all day! My decision was easy to make – the chicken and waffles looked amazing. They were calling my name. My husband opted for Shrimps and Grits. My husband was torn on his decision because there really had so many delicious options.

The Food

Metro diner chicken and waffles

Our food came pretty quickly, which I loved! The stack of delicious soft but crispy waffles were perfection. The sweet strawberry butter completed it. I’ve never had strawberry butter which makes me sad I’ve ben missing out on the deliciousness. The chicken was fried perfectly. It was crispy, juicy, and flavorful. It was not greasy at all. I need to know their secret! They gave me maple syrup with dashes of hot sauce – it was so good! I would never have thought to mix hot sauce and maple syrup. Everything went so well together. Let’s just say, I devoured every last piece.

The Shrimps and Grits were so good. My husband loves anything with Shrimps and he enjoyed every last bite. The grit cakes were smothered in a delicious creamy white sauce with shrimps, sausage, and bacon. I enjoyed the texture and taste of the grit cakes, almost like cornmeal. The combination was delicious.

Metro diner brownie

We couldn’t leave without dessert! I had the Salted Caramel Brownie. I was pleasantly surprised to see delicious vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce on top. Guys, it was heaven. So good! My husband got the Key Lime Pie which he loved – he said it was tart but sweet with a delicious crust. I’m not a Key Lime Pie type person but I have to admit that it was creamy and tasted really good. They also offered Peach Cobbler – I was tempted to get that too but didn’t want anyone to think anything! Ha ha.

It certainly will not be the last time we eat at Metro Diner. I look forward to tasting the Pot Roast and their amazing looking sandwiches. Oh yeah, and the burgers! There are so many options that one visit is not nearly enough to experience the great food.

If you live in the area or are visiting, Metro Diner, is a must try spot.
