Growing up in the boroughs of New York City wasn’t easy, but I have some fond memories. I lived there all my life and it was the only place I truly knew. Navigating through the concrete jungles had its challenges but there was always someone who made my days so much brighter – my great grandmother. The way she cooked, the way she cleaned, or just the way she washed my clothes always brought a comfortable feeling for me. The memories are special to me because my great grandmother suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease. My beautiful, caring, and loving grandmother is no longer the same person – she doesn’t remember me sometimes. I don’t get to see her often since she lives in Puerto Rico but I cherish the pictures that are shared through social media from my grandmother. My great grandmother always spent a few months out of the year with my family, her daughter in New Jersey, and her other daughter in Puerto Rico. We all got to spend time with her. I was so lucky to have such a caring great grandmother who made me Farina and sopa de fideo whenever I wanted.
My grandmother was a homebody. She loved being at home cooking, watching her novelas, and Don Francisco on Univision. I always remember her doing laundry, she just had this magical touch – everything smelled so fresh and clean. Every time I use Suavitel® laundry products, it takes me back to the fresh clean smell of my childhood. Sometimes she would let them air dry outside our window and they would come back smelling so good!

Just amazing how a product that has been used by so many of my family members brings back memories of my childhood, fond memories.
