Toys have definitely come along way from when I was a child. Now many toys rely on technology, giving you more interaction. It is no surprise that toys for toddlers have evolved. Now we have apps that are available for young toddlers. Tiggly has created a product for toddlers 18 months – 4 years old that provides educational apps in conjunction with shapes that can be used with the iPad. Post contains affiliate links. Tiggly Shapes

tiggly1tiggly2Tiggly comes with four shapes: square, circle, triangle, and star. It is made of plastic material and silicone touch points that are recognized by the iPad. There are four apps available for use with the shapes:  Tiggly Safari, Tiggly Stamp, Tiggly Draw, Tiggly Christmas.

  • Spatial Reasoning
  • Motor Skills
  • Language
  • Creativity

tiggly6My daughter will be 2 years old next month. She quickly learned that she needed to place the shapes on the iPad to get a response. She was not however able to identify what shape was needed. I sat down with her to do a few of the apps and she repeated what I said. I think with some daily activity she’ll figure it out. She did enjoy looking at the animals and (with the pacifier in her mouth) repeating what the voice said.

My Thoughts
I love the concept. Our children are being introduced to technology earlier – there is no way around it. I don’t think it is a bad thing at all as we have to evolve with the times. The shapes are well made – durable, toddler-friendly, and won’t hurt my iPad. My only issue which is not a big deal is that I needed to remove my screen protector in order for the Apps to register the shapes. I would prefer to leave the screen protector on but I’m OK with removing it if it’s going to help my daughter. Definitely, recommend it to those parents who have children between 18 months – 4 years old. I also love that it comes with a cute little bag to hold the shapes, you know things “magically” disappear. I’m hoping they release more shapes and apps to mix things around.

two year old can do it. I would love to get this for my granddaughter.I love that technology is even being geared for toddlers

  4. Tiggly did a really great job on this. It’s amazing how technology made specialized activities for toddlers. I’d definitely tell my sister about this she has a little girl that will really love this.
