Do you enjoy playing video games with your family? I definitely do. We own all the popular gaming systems. As the saying goes, “the family that plays together, stays together”. Family time is so important to me and I cherish the moments we spend together. I work full time outside the home and don’t get many hours once I get home to have fun family time. I schedule time each week to just play, whether it is board games or video games. We all have a great time.

Growing up, my dad always bought the latest video game system. I remember when Sony PlayStation came out, he surprised my sister and I with it. It may have been for his amusement but we quickly grew to love it. We would play Twisted Metal. Does anyone remember that game? We loved, loved playing that game. It was such a fun way to bond with our dad. He worked way too much and for him to find the time to play with his little princesses meant everything to us. I definitely still hold on to those fond memories. Now that I have kids of my own, I look forward to those times that we play as a family – as I know I’m creating memories that they’ll always remember.

1. Mario Kart 8 – Wii U
Race and battle with your family using motorbikes, gliders, and more! Kids will love the twist and turns as they ride upside down, through waterfalls and more.

2. Just Dance (Wii U, XBox One, PS4)
Dancing to today’s hits, what’s not to love?! We have so much fun with this game. We always have a little friendly competition and also dance together! My daughter loves dancing and this is one of her favorite games.

3. New Super Mario Bros. Wii U
The family can all play various characters in the New Super Mario Bros. Up to 5 players can play at the same time! My son loves playing this game and we’ve had fun exploring the different worlds.

4. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Donkey Kong is one of my all time favorite games. You’ll be able to play as different players like Dixie Kong or Cranky Kong. The game allows you to play in two-player mode which makes it way more fun.

5. Just Sing
If you enjoy Just Dance, Just Sing is right up your alley! Whether you are singing or lip-synching, Just Sing will have the entire family singing along. You can even star in your own music video.

6. Battleship (PS4 and XBox One)

My family loves playing Battleship which is why we were so excited to play Battleship on our Xbox One. Little friendly competition. You can play in classic mode and a new Clash of Sea Mode. We enjoy playing one on one and online.

  1. Super Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong look like two that our family would really love. I remember playing both of them when they first came out in the early 80s, and I’ve never lost my love for them. It’s nice to see that they’re still going strong.

  2. We usually don’t play a lot of video games. However, I remember Super Mario Brothers from my childhood, and that is definitely one I’d love to introduce my kids to! So many great memories playing with my family and friends. A classic that never gets old!

  3. We haven’t found a Wii game we didn’t all love. My boys 5 and 7 love when we all play together, it’s such a special thing for us all to do together. I love the ideas, will have to add some to our collection.
