Things may get a little TMI in this post but I want to be honest with you guys. I was not eating well or exercising. I was all over the place and I wasn’t sleeping enough. My body was not OK with any of that and it let me know. I decided to make a change because my body was suffering. My skin was looking dull, my mid-section was looking pudgy, and my internals were just not working right. Everyone kept telling me that I needed to incorporate a probiotic to my diet. I was skeptical at first because I like seeing quick results and I was not seeing that when I took other products. But I gave it a try and I am SO glad I did. Hello, Hyperbiotics. These are the 6 life changes I made for a healthier me.
Taking Vitamins and supplements
I wasn’t one to take a daily multi-vitamin because I never noticed a difference when I was taking them. One day while at work, I was talking to my co-worker about not going to the bathroom regularly. She asked me if I ever took a probiotic. I told her I hadn’t. She suggested I started because she had difficulties going to the bathroom, too. She said it had really regulated her body. I decided to give it a try because I was desperate and knew not going to the bathroom for 2-3 days was NOT normal. I took my vitamin every single day and you know what? It worked! It took some time but my body FELT so much better. You don’t realize how much your gut health really affects the rest of your body. I felt less bloated. I just felt better. My favorite choice is Hyperbiotics Pro-Women. Hyperbiotics encourages better digestive health, promotes improved immunity, and can improve energy and clarity. Hyperbiotics is the world’s most effective probiotic supplements and comes at an affordable price! Win-win!
Being Organized
I am the worse when it comes to being organized. I always think, “I’ll remember that”. Umm, nope I end up not remembering at all. I decided to change all that this year! I bought a planner, planner stickers, and other cutesy things to help me stay organized. Now I don’t start my day without looking at my “to-do” list every morning. It keeps me focused and helps me feel less stressed. It really makes a difference in my day to day operations. I know what I have coming up so I can plan accordingly.
Eating Well
I always made excuses on why I couldn’t eat well – my kids, my Puerto Rican recipes aren’t healthy, etc, etc. Nonsense excuses basically. My kids are super picky and I just didn’t want to cook double the food. I decided that I would modify things – instead of white rice, I made brown rice. The kids didn’t notice any difference! I cook predominantly Puerto Rican food which usually includes rice and beans plus a meat. The meat is usually fried. I changed all of that by baking and grilling the meats instead. Guess what? They taste just as good and way healthier. I started to incorporate more avocados, tomatoes, and green peppers into my meals. My kids are not big on eating veggies so I added them to smoothies. They didn’t notice any difference, to them, it is a “milkshake”. I’ll take it! Baby steps. It is still a work in progress but it is a start! My body feels better and my skin looks better too! Hyperbiotics Pro-Women aids in weight loss which has been a huge help in combination with eating better. It helps in digesting my food better and regularity which is a big deal for me.
Decent Sleep
When I was working, I would wake up at 5:45 am to get to work by 8 am. I worked an hour away in Doral, FL. The issue is that I was going to bed past midnight almost every night. I wasn’t getting a full 8 hours of sleep, by 1 pm I was a zombie. I was caffeinating myself way, way too much. It was not doing great things to my body. I knew I had to slow down and plan things better. I worked full-time and was blogging. I wanted to devote time to both. Needless to say, I ended up resigning from my job this past February. I’m working on sleeping at a decent time. Now I can take naps or sleep in a little later than before. My dark circles never looked so good! Sleep is SO important. It is our bodies way of “refreshing” itself. If you don’t get good sleep it affects your health – mentally and physically. Seriously, catch up on those zzz’s.
Exercise
Guys, exercise is my least favorite thing. I’m going to be real honest – I don’t like the gym, I don’t like jogging, and I don’t like lifting weights. Getting exercise in has been a challenge but I listened to myself. If I don’t like doing those things, it means I need to find things I DO like. My gym membership did not include classes, therefore, I canceled it. I enrolled in my city’s fitness programs and started doing Zumba and Spinning classes. I love it! It does not “feel” like exercising. I look forward to going to classes and the best part is that they incorporate weights in a fun way. I know I have a long way to go until I am at my goal weight BUT I’m being proactive. I’m being truthful with myself and doing things that I WANT to do. I always hear you need to go to the gym, you need to do this, you need to do that but guess what I don’t stick with it because it does not interest me. I rather spend an hour and a half going to Zumba classes 4x a week than dragging myself to the gym where I won’t be happy and won’t accomplish half of what I do at my exercise classes.
“Me” Time
Time to myself is essential. I need it to function. Being a mom and wife is work. It could be exhausting at times. Running to drop the kids off, running back to pick them up, running to the grocery store, running to come back to get dinner ready for my family, and keeping the house clean. It is a constant go, go, go. I am sure so many can relate. Having those solid 20 mins of alone time where I can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while reading a book really lifts my mood. I look forward to that little alone time daily. It makes me ready to tackle my next task!
These changes were long overdue. I took me really reflecting on my health and well-being to see that I needed to make a change if I want to be a good example to my kids. I didn’t want to be the mom that was showing them unhealthy habits. We’ve all been adding more vitamins and supplements to our diet. Hyperbiotics makes a line for everyone –

I NEED to get more sleep! My husband is a snorer, so I need a separate bedroom LOL. That would help for sure.
Taking probiotics has definitely majorly helped my digestion! I love Hyperbiotics!
I’m trying to go to bed earlier. I have a baby and a 3yo and it’s so easy to want to just enjoy the quiet after they go to bed. But, that makes me extra tired the next day!
These are great changes to make for feeling better! My favorite of course is me time!
Great post! I’m a big believer in vitamins too. Agree. Sleep is very underrated and important for wellness.
Since my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2015, I have been regularly taking probiotics. It has really made a difference for my tummy. I am a huge believer in taking the right supplements. I also enjoy my me time, for me that is soaking in the tub with a good book.
Since the beginning of February I have been working on health related goals. I am down 20 pounds and have made some good habit changes.
Vitamins have made a huge difference for my body. I totally notice if I miss a day. I also track everything I ate. It’s not about calories but it’s just to make sure I eat enough and that I eat balanced!
Taking care of ourselves is such a laudable goal, yet it’s the first thing that falls by the way side when we get busy or stressed. I too have been looking more at my self-care recently and these are brilliant tips to get me going or keep me going! Saved.
I have considered using probiotics a bunch of times but always get kind of turned off by the price, however, I may have to give these a try. I love how many different types there a re and i really think they would help!
I think sleeping well is my biggest thing. My sleep schedule is so erratic. Sometimes I go to sleep early and other times it is really, really late. Either way I never get enough sleep because I am usually up after just 3-5 hours of sleep.
These are very lovely reminders. We often forget about focusing on our health that we neglect these little ways that can help improve it big time!
These are all super helpful reminders. They sound so basic, but sometimes we forget the most basic of things. I feel like sleep is my number 1 priority – if I don’t get enough sleep, I am just a zombie the next day.
I’ve definitely made changes in my diet over the last couple of years and notice such a huge difference. When I eat well, I feel great, when I add in things I shouldn’t my body lets me know. It actually makes me more mindful of what I’m doing for me.
These are all great to get started. Especially with the Spring rolling around.
Me time is definitely important. Same with eating well and getting more sleep. Those are things I’d like to work on myself. Great tips!
Totally agree with you on all these points – I’ve been doing yoga every morning for the past year and it’s made me feel so much better. Nothing too intense – about 15 minutes every morning including a headstand – but it really makes so much difference! x
I think planning meals ahead has been one of the biggest things that help us to eat healthy!
I really need to start taking probiotics. I know I would benefit from them, I just have a hard time remembering to take them. I have such major digestive issues (TMI?). Thanks for the other tips!
I am taking baby steps. I’m starting out with drinking as much water as I can, then will slowing add in other healthy changes.
I’m trying to start my healthy journey so I will definitely have to give these a try.
I try to do all of these, but sleep has been my major issue lately. I have to get up early for work, but I stay up late working on my blog. I need to figure out the balance for that better.
I do most of these things and it helps SO much! Definitely want to aim to do all!
