Video games are big in my house. I grew up playing them with my dad and little sister. When I met my husband he played video games and we would even play against each other. It is no surprise that our son fell in love with video games too. We enjoy playing together as a family – the Nintendo Wii U has made it easy to play together. I wanted to share my families top five favorite Nintendo sports games.

5 Favorite Nintendo Sports Games

1. Mario Sports Superstars

Mario Sports Superstars is the latest entry in the venerable Mario Sports series, and it offers five sports for solo or local- and online-multiplayer play. Available for Nintendo 3DS, it offers five full-featured sports games in one! Kids can play Soccer, Tennis, Baseball, Golf and, for the first time in the series, Horse Racing, as one of their favorite Mushroom Kingdom characters like Mario, Bowser, Peach or Wario. The game also features amiibo integration, including new Mario Sports Superstars collectible amiibo cards. The physical version of the game even has an amiibo card packed in, for a limited time!

2. Mario Kart 8

One of our favorite games! Feel the rush as your kart rockets across the ceiling. Race upside-down and along walls on anti-gravity tracks in the most action-fueled Mario Kart game yet. Take on racers across the globe and share videos of your greatest moments via Mario Kart TV. Returning features include 12-player online play, gliders, underwater racing, motorbikes, and custom karts. You can play as Mario, Princess peach, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Toadette, Rosalina, baby Luigi, and so much more!

3. Super Smash Bros

Face off against the biggest roster of Nintendo all-stars ever assembled! Send your rivals flying with powerful attacks to earn all-new customizations and equipment that trick out your fighter’s moves and stats. Up to four players can battle each other locally or online across beautifully designed stages inspired by classic Nintendo home console games. With a variety of control options and amiibo compatibility, the timeless Super Smash Bros. battles come alive.

4. Wii Sports Club

Play your favorite Wii Sports™ games on the Wii U console! With Wii Sports Club, you can now take the competition online* with tennis, bowling, golf, baseball, and boxing. Join a club, compete against other clubs from around your region, or play online multiplayer** with your friends. You can also use all-new training modes to improve your skills and support your club.

5. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash

Compete with friends in the multiplayer Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash game on the Wii U system. Along with the fun and dynamic gameplay known to the franchise, surprise your opponents with a new move to the series, the Jumpshot, which sends the ball flying down the court. Change the sport up with new Mega Battles, using the Mega Mushroom to gain an advantage over the competition. Claim your spot in Mario Tennis lore in singles (1v1) or doubles (2v2) as you play with and against family, friends or the CPU using returning and new characters to the series.

These are some of my families favorite family sports games. I hope your family gets a lot of fun family time playing these games.
